If we have one of your animals, please contact us as soon as possible. Animals that are impounded are held for a period of three (3) days.
Proof of ownership is required to reclaim any animal. A current rabies vaccination is required for all dogs and cats at the time of reclaim, as mandated by state law. If a current rabies vaccination is not on file, the owner will have ten (10) days to provide proof.
Proof of rabies vaccination may be provided by bringing documentation to the Slaton Police Department or by emailing it to pdrecords@cityofslaton.com. Failure to provide proof of rabies vaccination within the required time frame will result in a citation being issued by mail.
Once the impound period has expired, the animal becomes the property of the Shelter and will undergo an adoption evaluation. If an owner does not reclaim their animal, they remain responsible for all applicable fees incurred during the impound period.
Fees and requirements are outlined below.
| Item | Fee | Each Additional Day |
| 1st time offender | $25 | $10 |
| 2nd time offender | $50 | $10 |
| 3rd time offender | $100 | $10 |
